Funding

Rotary Club of Miramichi Project Funding Criteria

The Rotary Club of Miramichi provides small grants for local and international projects sponsored by local groups that fall into the six areas of focus of Rotary:

  • Peace and conflict prevention/resolution
  • Disease prevention and treatment
  • Water and sanitation
  • Maternal and child health
  • Basic education and literacy
  • Economic and community development

Only projects that fall within these areas will be considered.  Applicants must identify in which focus area(s) their project falls and explain how their request falls within a focus area.

Projects are expected to keep funds within the community to maximize benefits to the community.  Therefore, use of local suppliers is encouraged.  Local projects are expected to be within the geographic area of the Rotary Club of Miramichi, namely, Northumberland County, New Brunswick.

Funding requests are also assessed overall against the checklist of the Rotary four-way ethical behaviour test, namely:

Of the things we say, think and do:

  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

The Rotary Club of Miramichi will only consider funding projects that conform to ALL the following:

  1. Projects for which the applicant is a non-profit, volunteer organization, either incorporated or unincorporated.
  2. Projects sponsored by volunteers, not promoted by government employees as part of their employment duties or responsibilities.
  3. Projects in support of collective, group needs; not individual needs.
  4. Projects and groups that demonstrate problem-solving, capacity-building and learning among the applicant’s members or beneficiaries.
  5. Group activities within the region, no travel outside the region (except for specialized training not available in the region).
  6. Projects for which other devoted funding for this purpose has been applied for, such as government grants, and for which other fundraising efforts have been undertaken.
  7. Unique projects that are not duplication of existing services of another organization.
  8. Projects in support of a public organization fulfilling its mandate but not relieving the public organization of its responsibility, either directly or indirectly.
  9. One time project costs, for new or discrete activities, not recurring or ongoing operating costs of an organization.
  10. Project costs yet to be incurred, not retroactive.

Applicants are required to disclose all sources of project funding in the application, confirmed, requested or proposed.

As funds are limited, not all projects can be funded.

The Rotary Club of Miramichi has supported numerous excellent projects and sponsors benefit from the public information services of Rotary promoting their projects.

If your project meets the above criteria, you may wish to complete the ROTARY CLUB OF MIRAMICHI PROJECT FUNDING APPLICATION.

Please note that ALL recipients are required to commit to a grant agreement with the Rotary Club of Miramichi.
